There will be several nice events in the Santa Maria and Lompoc Valleys over the weekend to honor our local Veterans! Here is a link to the Santa Maria Times listings of events. Just use your browser’s back arrow to return to this post.
One of the best, in my opinion, is the one that started over ten years ago by local attorney Michael B. Clayton with a free BBQ at his law offices downtown. It was small then, but it has grown so large that now it is held at the Veterans Memorial Hall, 313 W. Tunnel Street in Santa Maria. The time is 10:30 to 3:00pm on Sunday, kicking off with a patriotic parade, followed by a flag ceremony, flyovers from Navy trainer planes and jets, and patriotic entertainment by the Righetti High School choir and the Pioneer Valley High marching band! Free BBQ for all veterans, reserve, active military and their immediate families. For all others there is a $5 donation per plate, with a portion of those donations given to a local non-profit veteran organization.
