Saturday Night Wine Tasting in Orcutt

Mark Steller has some great wines for tonight! While that is nothing unusual, tonight he features some winery “close-outs” that are priced so low you will cheat yourself if you don’t stock up while you can!  Tasting starts at 5:00 and winds down at 8:30, in the tasting room at the Old Town Market.

Cash Mob Santa Maria TODAY!

As promised last week, I am posting the Chamber of Commerce release of the location for the first “Cash Mob” event taking place today!  If at all possible, please show up this afternoon after work to support a wonderful local business, One Way Boardshop at the mall!

This is a family operated business, and here’s a little personal experience I had with the terrific owner.  A number of years ago, probably in about 2002, One Way was located in the Acorn Center in Orcutt, corner of Bradley and Clark.  Right next door to the shop was the real estate office where I worked — ERA Creative Realty (a firm that is no longer in existence).  One morning, I pulled into the parking lot in front of my office, got out, and just as I did, a young man (the owner) came dashing out from One Way to tell me that my front left tire was going flat!  Almost before I could respond, he offered to change my tire for me!  It was just such a friendly gesture, that I have never forgotten it.  He changed my tire, and to thank him, I delivered several pizzas to his store that day to feed his staff.  I have never heard a bad word about this business, or the owners.  They moved on to a location in the “big box” center near Best Buy, and eventually opened the Mall location.  Nice folks — so please support this business if you can!

If You Hurry

TheaterIf you hurry very fast, you still have time to catch tonight’s performance at The Great American Melodrama!  I was lucky enough to be an attendance at last night’s show, but tonight at 6:00 is the last performance of “Drac in the Saddle Again”.  What a FUN evening!!!  All the actors play their roles to the hilt, but for me, the one who stood out as an exceptional character was the Man of the Hour himself: Count Dracula, played by Jim Goza.  Oh my goodness.  Here is the clip from the website about this show:

“Dracula heads to the Wild West for new blood in this spoof of the low-budget horror and western movies of 1960’s. When the vampire Count arrives in dusty Tombstone (where else!) only our hero, the white-suited Guy With No Name, stands between him and his evil conquests. With a housekeeper named Consuela del Frankenstein, you know something terrible, and terribly funny, is being cooked up in the kitchen! You’ll scream with laughter!”

TGAM

Not only did the play have the audience in stitches, with boos and hisses galore, but the vaudeville revue that followed was marvelous! If you have never been to The Great American Melodrama, you should really make this your first time, and believe me you’ll go back for more!

Forget whatever your plans were for this evening, and head out to Oceano no later than 5:30!  You can call ahead for reservations at (805)489-2499 — the box office opens at noon!

Starting next is the Holiday Extravaganza, and I’m making reservations today!
