Retired, Who Me??

RETIREMENT

Yes, I am retired from real estate sales, but I am busier than ever!  Who knew “retirement” could be this much fun?

Since moving to Tulsa in August, 2014, I have become a Gillie volunteer at the famous Gilcrease Museum. I am playing bridge at every opportunity offered!  I meet monthly with a genealogy group, learning more about my ancestors.  My husband and I are in a group playing Mexican Train once a month, and I play “Hand & Foot” (a canasta off-shoot) and Bunco once a month.  I can go to movies whenever I want to, and the same with going to the library, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, attending lectures, etc.  Did I mention I love cards and games?? 🙂

This month, my husband and I traveled to New York City for my youngest son’s wedding! We were there 6  days, and enjoyed lots of activities, including the beautiful wedding itself — and now we have a beautiful new daughter-in-law!  My sister came home with us and spent 10 days!  I no longer need to balance my busy real estate career with having company — how sweet is that!

Over the past year and a half, I have continued to help past clients and friends in the Santa Maria Valley with their real estate needs, by connecting them to good local agents!  I would be happy to help anyone with real estate questions, so don’t hesitate to ask!

My email address is still DAnn@DAnnBartley.com, or you can reach me by phone or text at: (805)934-3370.

Whether retired or still working, make the most of each day, and keep smiling!!!

Preparing for the 4th of July!

One of the most exciting and festive American holidays is coming up this week, and I happened across this scrumptious looking dessert that even looks healthy! Easy to fix and carry, it should be a big hit with my family while watching the fireworks at the Santa Ynez Mission!  No recipe required — my kind of “cooking”!!
Fourth of July treat!

Please remember that our pets can suffer terribly from the many fireworks displays, legal and non-legal — many neighborhoods have private, small events that can frighten pets just as much as the huge elaborate displays.  Please be a responsible pet-parent!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Mothers Day 2014Best wishes to all the moms out there, young and old!  So many are celebrating their very first Mother’s Day, while for lots of women, it is one of many.  No matter, even if our mothers have passed on to a better place, we cherish our memories and love them still.

To my own mother, thank you for raising me to believe I could do anything, and do it well.  Thank you for giving me values to guide me on my journey through life.  Thank you for being my rock when sometimes everything around me was falling apart, but most of all, thank you for your unconditional love.  I wish you were still here, but you are always in my heart.

Pat Bartley, my mother

It sure seems obvious to me.  No cell phone usage while driving!

Tickle Me Tuesday

Funny face April 2014Just for a laugh!  This photo was taken when I was in San Luis Obispo for a business meeting a couple of weeks ago.  If this isn’t the most clever message about taking the bus instead of your car, I don’t know what is.  Love a sense of humor!!

Tickled about buying or selling real estate?  Give me a call at (805)937-5777 — it’s a serious matter, but no reason why we all can’t smile and be happy about it!

Safety Tip

texting-while-drivingHere is a safety tip from the National Safety Council, since April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month.  Having just returned from a short auto trip through several Western states, I can tell you we saw an abundance of roadside billboards — some quite dramatic — about driving and texting.  I think it is something which most of us truly understand, and yet often set aside fact for fiction when that urge to text, or take a phone call, overrides common sense.

Multi-tasking for blog

Think safety first, and focus on just driving.  Some years ago, there was a snappy motto: “Drive to Arrive Alive”.  That is a good one to remember!

Also please remember, when you are in need of outstanding real estate services, give me a call at (805)937-5777!  I’d love the opportunity to earn your business!

Happy Easter!

A very simple but heartfelt message today: enjoy a beautiful day and remember to acknowledge your many blessings!  Life is good!  Today, just toss the newspaper without reading it, and don’t watch news on TV — most of what you’d be reading, watching and hearing is negative! Keep it positive and happy!
